If you have every fancied yourself as a bartender and like the idea of hosting jolly knees-ups for your pals, you may enjoy renting a converted pub and staying there. We love these former working pubs that are available to rent to families or groups, as they retain all of the charm of their glory days.
Conroy's Old Bar
Guests experience a unique slice of Irish social history unfold before their eyes while staying at in North Tipperary. The discreetly-converted original village bar is perfect for couples and families, and is close to Lough Derg and the River Shannon. The two-bed, self-catering accommodation sleeps up to four people and has a real turf fire and pub games, books, maps and visitor information. There is a large beer garden outside with numerous seating and barbecue areas, and children will enjoy checking out the fairy garden.
The Poachers Arms
is a converted pub and restaurant in the village of Hope, which is located in the heart of the Peak District. It sleeps 30 people in nine ensuite bedrooms, and was originally a working pub for over 20 years. The bar area has retained the same décor as when it was open to the public, with traditional red patterned carpets, wood burners and authentic furniture, alongside modern touches.
Kegs of beer, cider and lager can be pre-ordered before visitors arrive, with guests acting as landlords and landladies. The pub also has an impressive games room with plenty of options for entertainment. There is covered hot tub in the garden and children can busy themselves with the enclosed play area, equipped with swings, a slide and a climbing wall.
The Holiday Pub
The is an Irish country pub in Tipperary, and you can stay there and have the whole place to yourself. Dating back to the 1800s, and extended over the years to include a lounge, dance floor and house, the pub was open to the public until 2010. It sleeps approximately 16 people, and the lounge has a huge fireplace and seating for everyone. You can even crank up the music, turn on the party lighting button and take to the dance floor.
Jack Duggan's Bar
This is located along the Wild Atlantic Way in Castlemaine, Kerry. Called after Jack Duggan, subject of the famous ballad "The Wild Colonial Boy," this pub dates back to 1903 and is full of character and charm. The accommodation includes a bar with an open fire, pool table, TVs and multiple games, a fully-functioning separate kitchen, and a kegs room with a top-of-the-range cooling system. It accommodates ten people and is within easy distance of Inch beach, various golf courses and Ireland's highest mountain range.
