One of the last remaining grand Viennese coffee houses on the Ringstrasse, this 1861 beauty has chandelier-lit vaulted ceilings, wood-panelled walls, marble tables and studded leather seats. Secessionist architect and designer Josef Hoffmann was among its patrons and it still draws a local crowd for its coffee, international newspapers, flaky Warmer Topfenstrudel (warm cheese-curd strudel) and sublime Sacher Torte.
