About Meera
I'm a freelance travel journalist and my love affair with travel started where many do - backpacking solo around Southeast Asia which I always enjoy returning to. Going back to my family roots in India, Uganda/East Africa is another passion, to explore the heritage, food and culture, and I also love hiking and wildlife - I've been lucky to meet lemurs, sloths and polar bears in Madagascar, Costa Rica and Canada.
As well as writing, I'm chair of the British Guild of Travel Writers, an editor at online travel magazine Adventure.com, and part of a project that's recording the 50-year-plus journey of Ugandan Asians to Britain.
