About Tom
Tom Peeters was born and raised in the Flemish countryside, but nowadays divides his time between Belgium, Estonia and the wider world.
Freelance journalist by day, aspiring novel writer at night and (digital) nomad at heart, he enjoys looking for stories in unexpected places. Tom writes for Flemish and international publications about (slow) travel, adventures in the great outdoors, nature conservation, and climate change. Ever since driving a beat-up Ford Escort from Belgium to Iran with a university friend, he’s fallen deeply in love with travel - always on a budget.
Whether he’s climbing volcanoes in Indonesia, exploring cloud forests in Honduras, searching for polar foxes in the Arctic, or island hopping in Greece, his endeavours fuel his passion for storytelling. He’s also in his element when hiking, (trail) running, camping or rummaging through cities in search of places where the locals eat.
