Latvian Riflemen Monument

Latvian Riflemen Sq, on the west side of the future home of the Occupation Museum, is dominated by the imposing and controversial statue honouring Latvia鈥檚 Riflemen, who formed the core of Russia's Red Army in 1918. Some of them served as Lenin鈥檚 personal bodyguards, and yet most returned to the newly independent Latvia.
