Mavrovo National Park
This ultraposh spa hotel, 5km from Mavrovo town, is perfect for pampering, with its modern rooms and heavenly lake-view outdoor pool. Prices fall considerably in summer, when the hotel can arrange hiking trips and rents out mountain bikes. The only downside is that it feels quite remote in summer; in winter a free shuttle bus drops guests at the ski lifts, 10km away.
