Marae Papiro

The Tuamotus

Marae Papiro is a well-kept marae (traditional temple) on the edge of a hoa, about 14km from the village. In the centre of this marae you can see the stone seat from which, according to legend, the giant Tu guarded the pass against invasion.

The hoa (shallow channel) is good for swimming and snorkelling and there are a few appealing coral beaches close by.
