Dacha (family summer cottage) is a dreamworld of happy childhood memories for locals. This Odesa institution, perched on a plateau above Arkadia inside Chkalov sanatorium, masterfully re-creates the atmosphere – on a slightly exaggerated scale. Food is homey, Odesa-style, with generous portions. You can choose between dining in the garden or inside the house, which looks very much like a dacha.

House policy: guests are encouraged to dress down to their underwear as Soviet-era dacha owners often did in their tiny but private gardens. We haven't seen anyone try it.
