About half of the campgrounds around Shasta Lake are open year-round. The lake’s many fingers have a huge range of camping, with lake and mountain views, and some of them are very remote. Free boat-in sites are first-come, first-served – sites without boat launches will be far less busy.
Dispersed camping outside organized campgrounds requires a campfire permit, available free from any USFS office.
