Shagwong Tavern

Long Island

An old-school drinking and eating establishment along the manic 'strip' for 80 years, the Shagwong was a favored celebrity drop-in in the ’70s.

The Shag still has the historic photos, and massive swordfish and shark heads stare out from the walls. A basic apps menu ($8 to $15) is served to balance the bevvies; the dining room fare is pricier ($16 to $49).
