The city's grand old railway terminal has refocused its mindset from gimmicky train hotel to community entertainment epicenter. Now with 145 newly modernized rooms and 46 authentic Victorian railcar rooms, it remains a kitschy place to sleep, but it's the renovation add-ons that make it a great Southside choice for those who dig being at the center of the action.
A hip new restaurant (Stir), a trendy coffeehouse (Frothy Monkey), an Escape Room, a comedy club (Comedy Catch), an extremely cool men's boutique (Refinery 423) and an unrivaled vintage-guitar museum have all been added to the complex. Newly pedestrianized Station St, which flanks the south side of the complex, will now host outdoor events and festivals. The retro Gilded Age bar and stunning grand lobby portico remain, but the future has otherwise arrived for the Choo Choo.
