Some sniff that the resort has lost a bit of its glamour since the opening of its guests-only casino in 2010, but the place is still pretty darn posh. The 11,000-acre property is owned by West Virginia coal baron, billionaire and current governor Jim Justice. The five golf courses are also a draw, plus there are more than 55 recreational activities from which to choose. The resort fee is $39 per night. Pets are allowed in some cottages and the fee is $250 per stay. Dogs must be 30lb or less. Nine miles west, you can stretch your legs and explore the shops and restaurants in tiny downtown Lewisburg.
